Helen's journey in Speech and Language Therapy

I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2006, graduating from City University London with a first-class BSc (hons) in Speech and Language Therapy. 

I have worked with children and young people within the NHS, schools, in independent practice and the private special education sector during my 20 years of practice. I have been fortunate to develop a broad experience and knowledge base across a range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). 

I have worked extensively in education with other Speech and Language Therapists and as part of multi-disciplinary teams with other professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychotherapists, Teachers and Support Staff.

In the more recent years of my career I have developed my specialist knowledge in the area of social, emotional and mental health, including complex trauma and attachment needs. In 2023 I gained a Master of Education (MEd) in social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

I have undertaken clinical supervision training with In Tandem, completing the core three modules.

I have a compassionate, warm, and calm approach to supervising others. I focus on listening carefully and creating a safe, supportive space for you to express and navigate your experiences. I work to empower my supervisees to grow, learn, and realise their own potential for professional growth.

I have supported Speech and Language Therapists, from Newly Qualified Practitioners to those in Highly Specialist and leadership roles. Good quality clinical supervision can be a doorway to discovering the potential within each individual, and it is a privilege to be a part of their growth and development.
